The Paris Olympics are just around the corner, with the competitions set to begin on July 24th and the Opening Ceremony set for July 26th.
It will be an intense couple of weeks and there are plenty of events to look forward to. With that, we have decided to take a deep dive into the country of Canada and will analyze who their greatest Olympians have been over the years.
Our article will provide you with our list of the 10 best Canadian Olympians of all time. This list will not only cover Summer Olympians, but also Winter Olympians as Canada is better known for their success in the Winter Games.
Although he represented Canada in only the 1996 Olympics, Donovan Bailey makes our top 10 list because of the success he had.
Note, he did attempt to compete in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, but had to drop out. He won two medals in the 1996 Olympics (both Gold), setting a time of 9.84 seconds in the 100m event and being the first Canadian ever to set a 100m time under 10 seconds.
The next entry on our list is a duo because they competed as partners in rowing events at the Summer Olympics. .
This partnership was together for two Olympic Games (1992 and 1996). Together they won four medals in total (three Gold and one Bronze).
Émile Heymans is next up on our list, having competed in four Olympic Games.
She represented Canada in diving in the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics.
During her Olympic career, Heymans won four medals in total (two Silver and two Bronze). She was the first female diver to ever win medals in four Olympic Games in a row, while also being the first Canadian to win at least one medal in four consecutive Games.
Widely known as the greatest female hockey player ever, Hayley Wickenheiser is a six-time Olympian for Canada.
She competed in the 1998, 2002, 2006. 2010, and 2014 Winter Olympics, and was also a member of the Canadian Softball team in the Summer Olympics once.
She has won a total of five medals (four Gold and one Silver).
Three-time Olympian, Marc Gagnon is considered one of the best Short Track Speed Skaters in Canadian Olympic history. He competed in the 1998, 2002, and 2006 Winter Olympics, winning a total of five medals (three Gold and two Bronze)
Known as one of the greatest hockey players of all time, Sidney Crosby also can add two-time Olympian to his resume.
He was a part of the 2010 and 2014 Canadian Olympic hockey team and won the Gold Medal in both of these appearances, captaining the side in Sochi in 2014.
Cindy Klassen is a two-time Olympian, having competed in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games.
She won a total of six medals in her career (one Gold, two Silver, and three Bronze). Klassen is also the only Canadian Olympian to ever win at least five medals at one Olympic Games (2006).
Clara Hughes ranks at second on our list because she has excelled in not one, but two Olympic sports.

Andre De Grasse is a two-time Olympian, having competed at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Games.
He has won a total of six medals (one Gold, two Silver, and three Bronze). He is mainly known for being the first Canadian athlete to win at least one medal in all of the sprinting events.
Penny Oleksiak comes in at number one on our list because of the success she has already shown in her Olympic career.
Oleksiak has competed in two Summer Olympic games (2016, 2020). She has won a total of seven medals (one Gold, two Silver, and four Bronze), which is the most medals for any Canadian all time.
Further, she was also the first Canadian ever to win four medals at any one Summer Olympic Games, claiming a gold, silver and two bronze in Rio in 2016.
