Peru vs. Canada: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Putting in a respectable performance against reigning Copa America and world champions Argentina, Jesse Marsch’s Canada are back in action on Tuesday when they face Peru in Kansas City, Kansas.

Les Rouges were expected by some to be overrun against an Argentina side setting out to defend their Copa America crown on United States soil this summer.

However, Canada gave a good account of themselves in Atlanta, with second-half goals from Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez helping Argentina to a 2-0 victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

It was by no means a disgrace for Canada as they prepare to face a Peru side who played out a goalless draw in their opening game of the tournament against Chile in Arlington, Texas.

Both Canada and Peru are battling for most likely that second spot in Group A behind Argentina, making Tuesday’s encounter an intriguing contest at Children’s Mercy Park.

Peru vs. Canada betting picks and predictions

Canada to win to nil (+250)

Canada will be able to take plenty of positives from that opening game of Copa America, as they made one of the tournament favourites work for their victory in Atlanta.

The key for Canada will now be to find their form in the final third of the field against Jorge Fossati’s Peru.

These sides have only met on one previous occasion, with Peru running out 2-0 winners in an international friendly back in September 2010.

More recently, goals have been the issue for Peru, scoring just once in their last three games and that was against El Salvador.

Canada have kept clean sheets against Trinidad & Tobago and France this year and look capable of keeping Peru out on Tuesday.

With Canada’s attacking players plying their trade in Europe, with Cyle Larin and Jonathan David at Mallorca and Lille respectively, Les Rouges should have the quality to bag their first win of the tournament on Tuesday.

Half-Time/Full-Time - Canada/Canada (+275)

Marsch likes his teams to be at it from the first whistle, so expect Canada to come out of the blocks quickly against Peruvians here.

With Larin and David likely to play in a front two as they did against Argentina, Les Rouges have the firepower to cause Peru’s defence problems from the off.

Former Leeds United boss Marsch will have his side fired up for this must-win game if Canada are to stand a chance of beating Chile to that second spot in this group.

Marsch’s men look to be good value here to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistle in Kansas at +275.

Jonathan David anytime goalscorer (+260)

With 26 in 48 appearances for Canada, David has been a reliable source of goals for his country since making his international debut back in 2018.

The former Gent striker was a key figure in helping Lille cause a stir in European football by winning the Ligue 1 title in France ahead of giants Paris Saint-Germain in the 2020/21 season.

Scoring 26 goals in 47 appearances for Lille in all competitions last term, David is in good form and it would be little surprise to see him find the back of the net in Tuesday’s encounter against a Peru side that might struggle to cope with bot him and Larin in attack.
