The Ottawa Senators named Travis Green as their new head coach on Tuesday, May 7.
Green, 53, joins Ottawa after spending the last 21 games of the 2023/24 season as interim head coach of the New Jersey Devils, where he earned an 8-12-1 record. He was promoted from associate coach after Lindy Ruff was let go on March 4.
Green previously spent five seasons at the helm in Vancouver, where he went to the second round once (2021) before losing to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Green replaces D.J. Smith, who the Senators fired 16 games into the 2023/24 season. Smith spent five seasons at the helm in Ottawa before getting the sack and being replaced by interim Jacques Martin.
Ottawa finished seventh in the Atlantic Division (37-41-4, 78 points) and missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season.
