With the 2024/25 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs almost here, let's take a look at the odds to win the Cup in June.
The Florida Panthers lifted their first Stanley Cup in franchise history last season, outlasting the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 to keep Canada – and its prodigal son Connor McDavid – from a long-awaited championship.
Can the Oilers get back to the Cup final? What are the Panthers’ odds to repeat?
Let’s dive in!
FLA Panthers | +650 |
COL Avalanche | +700 |
DAL Stars | +800 |
VGS Golden Knights | +850 |
WIN Jets | +950 |
EDM Oilers | +950 |
WAS Capitals | +1000 |
TOR Maple Leafs | +1000 |
CAR Hurricanes | +1000 |
TB Lightning | +1100 |
LA Kings | +1800 |
Nine teams are between 6/1 and 10/1 to win the Stanley Cup ahead of the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the reigning champion Florida Panthers (+650) are the outright favorites.
The Panthers finished third in the Atlantic Division this season. While they rank 15th in goals per game with 3.08, their goals against average of 2.79 is the seventh-best in the NHL. Plus, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky tends to improve when the stakes are highest and this team has plenty of playoff experience from last year.
The Colorado Avalanche (+700) are the second-favorites to win it all this season. Trading star winger Mikko Rantanen seems to have worked well for the team, as one of the players they got in return, Martin Necas, averaged nearly a point per game as a member of the Avs.
Plus, Colorado won the Cup four seasons ago and still has much of the same group from that triumph.
Third in the odds are the Dallas Stars (+800), who acquired Rantanen in his second trade within the 2024/25 season. The Stars rank fourth in goals scored per game and sixth in goals allowed per game, and they have a balanced attack with eight players scoring at least 16 goals.
The Vegas Golden Knights (+850) have the fourth-shortest odds. They're a top-five team in both scoring and goal prevention, and centre Jack Eichel has had a career year as he guided his team to a first-place finish in the Pacific Division.
Two Canadian teams in the Western Conference, the Winnipeg Jets and 2024 Stanley Cup runner-up Edmonton Oilers, are tied at +950.
Winnipeg won the Presidents' Trophy thanks to having the best defense and third-best offense in terms of goals allowed and scored per game. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck played his way into Hart Trophy contention, and forwards Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele were stars all year long.
Edmonton finished third in the Pacific Division, which had three teams earn 100 points this season. Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both notched 100 points and Draisaitl led the league with 52 goals, but their supporting cast took a slight step back as no other players reached 70 points for the season.
Three Eastern Conference teams — the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Carolina Hurricanes — are tied in the betting at +1000. They're followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning (+1100) and Los Angeles Kings (+1800).
The playoff teams with the longest odds to win it all are the Ottawa Senators (+3500), New Jersey Devils (+4000), Minnesota Wild (+4500), St. Louis Blues (+5000) and Montreal Canadiens (+5000).
