Florida Panthers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

On a fantastic night of NHL action on Monday, the standout game looks to be taking place at the Scotiabank Arena where the Toronto Maple Leafs host their Atlantic Division rivals, the Florida Panthers.

The Panthers lie in second in the division with a six-point cushion over their hosts in third, although the road team is only two points behind the Boston Bruins at the top, having played a game less, and will be desperate to register the win as they chase the number one seeding.

The Leafs are still not mathematically out of the running to finish top of the division so there is plenty at stake going into Monday's game. Plus, it could be a prelude to the first round of the playoffs.

Florida Panthers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs betting picks and predictions

Toronto Maple Leafs Money Line (+110)

These two sides met in the second round of the playoffs last season and could face off in the first round this time around. Both teams will be keen to strike a psychological blow with the postseason party set to begin in a little over two weeks.

The Panthers enjoyed a 4-1 series win over the Leafs in the 2023 playoffs but it is worth bearing in mind that Toronto had won three of the four regular season games that year.

This season's head-to-head stands at 1-1 with both teams having won their previous home games against each other. Florida will host the Leafs in their final game of the regular season on April 16th.

Interestingly, both of these teams have been better on the road than they have at home overall, but Monday's matchup could go the same way as the previous head-to-heads with Toronto registering a home win.

The Panthers may have an overall record of 47-22-5 for 99 points but their levels have dropped since the trade deadline passed. In their 10 games since March 8th, Florida has gone 4-5-1, scoring just 26 goals in that run (only six teams have scored fewer) while allowing 29.

Paul Maurice's men still boast the best defence in the NHL, allowing just 2.43 goals per game, but their dip on offence has seen them struggle to maintain their bid for the Presidents' Trophy, and now games are running out.

The Leafs (42-22-9) have gone 6-3-1 since the trade deadline, registering 41 goals while allowing 27, and although Florida might argue they have had the tougher schedule, momentum is with the home team and they look good value to chalk up the win at +110.

Under 6.0 goals (+105)

It may be somewhat risky going under the total goals with two of the top three goalscorers in the NHL on show at the Scotiabank Arena - home star Auston Matthews leads the NHL with 60 goals with the visiting Sam Reinhart third with 51 - but the value is a low-scoring matchup at +105.

Florida ranks 14th overall on offence with 3.19 goals scored per game but has struggled in recent games, and it is not easy to see them suddenly finding their scoring touch on the road against a divisional rival with plenty at stake.

Still, their defence remains strong and Toronto is not likely to have everything its own way. The hosts have recorded some impressive recent wins - notably 6-3 over the Edmonton Oilers - but they lost 2-1 to another strong defence in the Carolina Hurricanes while they only beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-0 last time out.

Toronto beat Florida 2-1 after a shootout in November, while the Panthers won 3-1 at home in October and only one of the last nine games between these two has even hit six goals - that being the 4-2 win for the Panthers in Game 1 of last season's playoff series.

Aleksander Barkov to score anytime (+200)

Auston Matthews is an obvious goalscorer option having scored 60 so far this season, and he has racked up 15 points in his last 10 games. However, nine of those points have been assists and it may pay to look elsewhere.

Aleksander Barkov has stood out for the Panthers of late and looks appealing to find the net at odds of +200.

The Finnish centre leads Florida's goalscoring stats since the trade deadline alongside Sam Reinhart. Both players have registered six goals but Barkov has only played seven of the 10 games while Reinhart has been an ever-present.

The 28-year-old Barkov has the confidence stemming from nine points in his last seven games and he has averaged the most ice time of any forward for Florida in that run. In such an important matchup, odds of +200 look too big to ignore.
