Read the latest betting picks, predictions, odds and player props for Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks Game 5 in the second round of the NHL playoffs.
The second of two playoff games on Thursday night, this all-Canadian series faces a crucial Game 5.
The Oilers are looking to inch closer to their second conference finals appearance in three seasons, while Vancouver, who hasn't been to the conference finals since 2011, will look to avoid heading back to Edmonton down 3-2.
The Oilers and Canucks battle for a commanding 3-2 series lead tonight. The first four games of the series have all ended as one goal games. It doesn't get any closer than that in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In order for the Canucks to win they need everything to go their way. Elias Pettersson needs to step up and be the player we all know he can be. They need Arturs Silovs to continue to keep them in games. They can't take penalties. And most importantly, they can't shoot themselves in the foot like they did in Game 4 (I'm looking at you Ian Cole and Noah Juulsen).
All the Oilers need to win is average goaltending. They are so talented and dangerous offensively that they don't need a lot to go their way to win. That's a big advantage.
Edmonton has badly outplayed the Canucks throughout most of this series at 5-on-5. They have just faced the better goalie and haven't had quite as much shooting luck as the Canucks have had.
Edmonton has been the better team in this series, and I think they are going to take Game 5 in Vancouver.
