The Boston Bruins have faced a busy schedule and face another tough matchup, the second of a back-to-back, against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Bruins are in the middle of a mini-gauntlet. They played the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, face the Oilers Tuesday, then meet the Maple Leafs once again on Thursday.
Boston bounced back well from a slump as they beat Toronto on Monday, but they have their work cut out for them playing Edmonton for their second tough game in as many nights.
This is a true heavyweight matchup that should provide plenty of entertainment.
In this game between a couple of elite teams, things look a little bit better for the Oilers. Edmonton recently had their most tumultuous stretch since early November. But that recent rough patch was not bad considering they were 4-5-1.
They have since won four consecutive games by a combined nine goals. That is an average win by 2.25 goals in their current winning streak.
The Oilers have been bullying their way through the NHL for nearly four months. They look to be back in the impressive form that catapulted their playoff and Stanley Cup odds to be among the favourites.
Meanwhile, the Bruins have a much-needed two wins in their last three games as part of a stretch where they have four wins in 12 games. This is by no means an indictment on the Bruins or how impressive they are. But the Oilers look like the better team right now and should win outright.
Jake DeBrusk has earned a nice reputation of a player that comes through in big games. Year after year, he has produced in big postseason moments and even in important regular season games.
The Bruins had a tough task on Monday, facing a red hot Maple Leafs team while Boston was struggling a little bit. DeBrusk starred with a goal and an assist in a big 4-1 win.
DeBrusk typically bounces around the top two lines on the Bruins. Currently, he is slated on the second line with Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle, as well as on the second power play with fellow good, productive players in Pavel Zacha, Morgan Geekie, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Mason Lohrei.
This has the makings of a high-scoring game that could very well see DeBrusk in the mix once again. This plus money for him to tally a point is solid value.
Once again, Leon Draisaitl is a 30+ goal scorer and well over a point-per-game player. His 30 goals is the second best on the Oilers roster and his 78 points are also second on the team. With that, it makes sense that Draisaitl is on the team's top line and top power play.
At any time, he is likely on the ice with some combination of Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Evan Bouchard among several other great players.
Edmonton's top line alone of Draisaitl, McDavid, and Hyman has a combined 95 goals and 236 goals in 174 games. The Bruins have struggled a bit with consistency lately and Draisaitl and the Oilers have a good chance to produce.
