The national championship marked the final contest of the 63-game tournament, which proves to be one of most thrilling spectacles in sports year after year. More than 5,800 games were played during the 2022/23 Division I men's college basketball season, which tipped off back on November 7, 2022.

While the format of the tournament will remain the same, one mainstay of the men's tourney will be no more come 2024.
Legendary sports broadcaster Jim Nantz, who has been involved in CBS' coverage of the tournament since 1986, and the network's lead play-by-play broadcaster since 1991, called his final college basketball game with Monday night's championship game.
Nantz, who is well known for being the voice of the Masters and NFL on CBS, will hand off his play-by-play duties to Ian Eagle for the 2024 tournament.
