The LPL Spring action continues on Sunday

Esports: LCS Summer Playoffs - Thursday to Saturday matches

The playoffs in League of Legends from North America continue with plenty of high-flying action.

A number of teams are still fighting to keep their chances alive as the fight for the right to play at Worlds goes to the team who emerges at the top.

The action begins with a huge Thursday clash between TSM and FlyQuest as both look to keep their slowly fading chances alive in the loser's bracket.

CLG couldn't get the job done in the opening round and now they face the Golden Guardians in Friday's match-up.

The action continues into Saturday with a huge second-round match between 100 Thieves - one of the favourites for the whole event - in a key match-up with Liquid. Things are about to get wild for North America's best.

TSM +137, FlyQuest -188

It's win or go home time for both teams in this clash as the loser's bracket of LCS Summer 2022 begins play.

FlyQuest had a chance to avoid this situation, but they failed to get anything accomplished in their opening match against Liquid. FlyQuest was able to score a point, but Liquid easily rolled to a 3-1 win.

The fact FlyQuest had to play a tiebreaker match before the playoffs began held weight as it cost them dearly against a Liquid. A team they might have matched up well with if they didn't have to play the extra match.

TSM is hungry to prove they belong in this playoff field and the first step to doing so would be to send FlyQuest home early.

The teams clashed twice in the Summer Split and they split the series as both teams held a victory over the other.

TSM holds just one win against FlyQuest in their last four head-to-head meetings. They also have faced each other in the playoffs since Summer 2020.

That match-up came in the finals as TSM was able to escape with a 3-2 victory. These teams are very familiar with each other as they have played each other 30 times with each team winning 15 times apiece.

Expect another tight match-up, but FlyQuest may just have the edge.

CLG heavy favourites over Golden Guardians

OddsGolden Guardians +250, CLG -350

CLG finds itself in a tough hole after they failed to reach the second round of the playoffs as they came up just short in their opening match against Cloud9. CLG had an impressive run during the Summer Split as they claimed the fourth-place spot in the standings.

Their opponent Golden Guardians enters as the final team in the playoff field, and now they have a tall task if they hope to find a way past CLG in the losers’ bracket.

The Guardians didn't have much success during the Summer Split, but they did enough to claim that last berth.

CLG owned the series during the Split as they easily defeated the Guardians in both matches. That was the case for several matches for the Golden Guardians this season.

The Guardians have lost three straight against CLG, and this could easily make it four in a row.

The Guardians were able to sneak a win during the spring and overall, they have had better luck historically against CLG. In 22 meetings it's a 12-10 advantage for Golden.

Yet their recent history has been nothing spectacular. CLG will be coming in mad after their close loss to Cloud9, so CLG is the right choice as a heavy favourite.

100 Thieves should prove too much for Liquid

Odds100 Thieves -120, Team Liquid -120

It's on as Team Liquid look to find a way to knock off one of the heavy favorites to win this event, as they clash with 100 Thieves in the second round.

Team Liquid was able to get things done in a 3-2 defeat of CLG to reach this match-up. Now they have turned their focus to the Thieves.

They had a rough time during the Summer Split as 100 Thieves wiped the floor in both matches.

Five of the last six head-to-head meetings have easily gone the way of the 100 Thieves, with the lone win for Liquid coming during week 5 of the Spring Split this season.

These teams were the determining teams in the 2021 championship as they played each other twice during that bracket. The Thieves were able to 3-0 sweep Team Liquid to claim the Championship last year.

Liquid looks to avoid that situation this time around, but 100 Thieves have had one of the most effective line-ups outside of Evil Geniuses this season.

There are no days off in LCS and 100 Thieves might have caught Liquid napping and the Thieves should prove too much here.
