Toughest fighter you’ve faced?

Probably Lovemore N’Dou, believe it or not. Because I hit him with everything, and he just looked at me and kept coming and coming. He was one tough man.

Coronation Street

What do you eat after a fight?

Something sweet, chocolate – I like Toblerone, I’ve got Toblerones in my mind now, you know the big ones you get in the airport?

Who was your boxing icon growing up?

It’d have to be Nas [Naseem Hamed]. His flair, predicting how he’d knock them out, he was so entertaining how he came out.

I have to put my right hand in the glove first.

Growing up, aside from boxing, what were your interests?

When I was young I was a little tearaway and I was always on the motorbike field, I was into motocross bikes.

Best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Take things 100%. Don’t cut corners, listen to the trainer, whatever it is, take it and give it the best you can lift.

How much can you lift?

I can do 110kg on the chest.

Best knockout you’ve ever seen?

It might be bad for him to hear this, but [Manny] Pacquiao against [Ricky] Hatton.

What’s on your bucket list?

Jumping out of a plane, I’ve always wanted to do that. But I’m very scared of doing it. We went before, they all did it here and I was bricking it. I had all the gear on, ready, all ready to get on the plane, then at the last minute they said it’s too cloudy today, and I was like ‘Yes!’
