There are only a handful of events going on to close out the 2022 year in Esports and two such events have little Championship allure - the Demacia Cup final in LOL and the Dota 2 Xmas Show.
The Grand Final of the Demacia Cup is set with two teams who didn't really have much of a shot coming in. That match-up will turn some heads as the top teams from China's LPL failed to reach the finals.
As for the Dota 2 Xmas Show, this event hasn't disappointed, with plenty of big matches still to go to decide the ultimate winner. Tuesday's action will see a clash between Nigma Galaxy and HellRaisers. A spot in the Upper-bracket semi-finals is up for grabs.
The winner will take on Team Spirit who are expected to win the Xmas Show.
All the esports action on Tuesday is sure to deliver. Let's look at the schedule and who has a chance to cash in and win.
What: BLG v TT Gaming, LOL Demacia Cup Grand Final
Where: China
When: Tuesday December 27th
Odds: BLG -300, TT Gaming +225
The Grand Final of the 2022 Demacia Cup will have a new winner as Bilibili Gaming and ThunderTalk Gaming face off. Neither of these teams had much hope of winning the event coming in.
BLG were a last-second replacement for LPL power Top Esports into Stage three. They were able to eliminate two other power teams in Invictus Gaming and Royal Never Give Up.
It wasn't an easy path for TT Gaming either as they had to get by JD Gaming who were one of the best LOL teams from China in 2022. They then matched up with EDward Gaming in the semi-finals and were able to get a 3-1 victory to book their ticket in the Grand Final.
Esports: Demacia Cup semi-final preview
Both teams have plenty to be proud about, especially as both did not finish higher than fifth in previous editions of the Demacia Cup. In fact, TT Gaming finished in the 17-20 placement at the 2021 Demacia Cup event. That event wasn't much better for BLG either as they lost in the early rounds and finished in the 13-16 placement.
Both teams have shocked the world of Chinese League of Legends and now they have something to brag about heading into the 2023 season. No matter which team takes home the trophy, both earned their spot in this Finale.
Both teams have delivered an impressive performance, but only one can win outright. The value lies with BLG at -300 to win outright.
What: Nigma Galaxy v Hellraisers, DOTA 2 Xmas Show
Where: Europe
When: Tuesday December 27th
Odds: Nigma -350, Hellraisers +250
It has been another big event in Dota2 to close out the 2022 campaign, and the BetBoom Xmas Show continues through the Final Stage, in the double-elimination bracket. This event is far from deciding a champion. Yet there are two teams trying to keep their opportunity alive.
Those teams are NGX and HellRaisers who meet in an upper bracket quarter-final. The winner of this match-up will advance to the Upper-semi-finals for a date with Team Spirit. The loser drops to the Lower bracket and a clash with Entity in an elimination match.
Neither of these teams want to face that situation. HellRaisers were able to go 3-1 in Group A and finished in second place behind Nemiga Gaming. As for Nigma Galaxy they didn't even have to play in the group stage as they were one of the four teams who had an auto bid into the playoffs of this event.
A loss here would be disappointing for a team that has had HellRaisers' number in recent meetings. These teams haven't played each other since 2020, but Nigma won both meetings. One of the matches was a 2-0 victory at ESL One Los Angeles.
HellRaisers have improved a lot in the last couple seasons, and the 2022 Dota 2 season was no different, as the team has won five-straight events they have taken part in dating back to 2021. All of their matches so far at BetBoom Xmas Show have been less than three maps.
Looking at Nigma Galaxy, they were able to grab a fifth-sixth place finish at the Riyadh Masters 2022 event in Dota 2. This match is a clash between a top division team in Dota 2 and a second division team. That gives an edge to NGX as they play at a much higher level. They also are expected to win this head-to-head match-up anyway.
