The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks have met in nine playoff games spread over two series ahead of their 2024 second-round matchup.
The first series between the teams was in the then-best-of-five 1986 first round, where the Oilers won 3-0. Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier and Jari Kurri each had six points in the series for the Oilers while Thomas Gradin led the way for Vancouver with three points.
The second playoff series between the teams came in the 1992 Smythe Division Finals, which is the former name for what is now the Pacific Division. Edmonton won the series 4-2 thanks to 11 points from Joe Murphy and two shutouts from the defence and goaltender Bill Ranford.
