Daily Faceoff's Weekly NHL Risers and Fallers

As the trade deadline quickly approaches, the top 10 teams have solidified themselves, as there was not much movement in the Daily Faceoff power rankings.

However, the Central Division saw a lot of bubble playoff teams move in opposite directions - one played themselves into a more comfortable position. At the same time, two have fallen farther and farther behind in the race.

Seeing how these rankings change after the top 10 teams move next week will be exciting, not only for their play this week but also due to any acquisitions they make by Friday's trade deadline.

New York Islanders

23rd -> 19th (+4)

Last Week's Record: 3-0. +6 points.

Monday: 3-2 overtime win over the Dallas Stars (2nd)

Thursday: 5-3 win over Detroit Red Wings (16th)

Saturday: 5-1 win over the Boston Bruins (5th)

Division Standings: Fourth in the Metropolitan (+3), five points behind the Philadelphia Flyers.

Wild Card Standings: Third in the Wild Card (+3), eight points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Player of the Week: Brock Nelson

The New York Islanders stacked their top line when they elevated Brock Nelson to the top-line left wing alongside Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat. Nelson scored in two of the Islanders' three games, including a two-goal game against the Detroit Red Wings. Shots on goal bettors would have hit their bets in two of three games this week.

This was a big week for the Islanders as they got right back into the playoff race by beating three playoff teams. Seeing what general manager Lou Lamerello does at this Friday's trade deadline should be interesting.

Player of the Week: Juuse Saros

It was tough not to make Roman Josi the back-to-back player of the week, as he finished with three goals and seven points with a +7 rating.

Juuse Saros started and won all three games for the Predators this week. Saros has a combined 1.0 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage. With his play lately, Saros singlehandedly played himself out of the trade deadline rumours and put the Predators into a comfortable playoff spot.

Let Down of the Week: Filip Gustavsson

Filip Gustavsson started three of the Wild's four games this week and finished with a 1-2 record, allowing 12 total goals against. He failed to record an over .900 save percentage and finished the week with a combined 4.1 goals against average and .833 save percentage. The one win Gustavsson earned was against this week's 31st-ranked team, where he allowed three goals on just 15 shots on goal.

Let Down of the Week: Nick Leddy

It's an odd letdown of the week, but with the total ice time Leddy sees, you'd figure he would play a more significant role than he did. Leddy averaged 21:16 minutes over the three games this week, recording zero points, four hits, three blocks, and just one shot on goal in total, posting a 0 plus-minus rating. While Leddy didn't necessarily hurt his team, with that amount of ice time, you'd expect to see more on the stat sheet.

Ride the hot hand, target the Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators continue to move up the Daily Faceoff power rankings as they've gone from 18th to 11th in just two weeks, and with this week's upcoming schedule, they could move even higher.

The Predators movement should come as no surprise when you win eight straight games. Their upcoming schedule is against teams that rank in the bottom 10 of this week's power rankings. Here is the current record the Predators have over their opponents this week:

-3-1 over the last four games against the Montreal Canadiens.

-2-0 over the last two games against the Buffalo Sabres.

-2-1 over the last three games against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

-3-1 over the last four games against the Minnesota Wild.

Dallas Stars, Ottawa Senators Shots on Goal props

This week, shots on goal bettors are spoiled rotten as two teams are set to embark on their California road trip; this week's beneficiaries are the Dallas Stars and Ottawa Senators.
