With the college football season just around the corner, now's the perfect time to check out the futures betting market for the sport.
Most of the top schools listed should come as no surprise, but there are a couple teams on here that you might not have expected.
Between coaching changes, recruiting and the ever-changing transfer portal, getting a true read on these teams can be tough. But regardless, that's still what we're here to help with.
So, without further ado, let's get into the top betting favorites for the 2023 college football season.
Not surprisingly, the Georgia Bulldogs are heavily favored to win another title this season, which would mark their third season in a row doing so.
They continue to boast one of the top defenses year in and year out, and this season should be no different. However, they will have to work in a new quarterback for this year as Stetson Bennett is now in the NFL.
With the way Georgia recruits though, the next guy up is probably just as good.
A familiar name on this list would be the Alabama Crimson Tide. It's been a couple seasons since they've dominated like they used to, but all the pieces are there for head coach Nick Saban to get this school back to the promised land.
They finished the regular season last year at 10-2, which is phenomenal at just about every school you're at except Alabama.
With a loaded recruiting class coming in and the top-tier coaching still in place, the Crimson Tide are in great position to make some noise this season.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are the next team on the list of CFB betting odds.
After winning the Big Ten four straight seasons from 2017-2020, the Buckeyes haven't been able to get over the hump of the team up north in the last two seasons.
Still, Ohio State played well enough last season to earn a CFP spot, and then they gave the best team in the country (Georgia) all they could handle before ultimately falling. Watch out for the Buckeyes this season.
Speaking of the team up north, the Michigan Wolverines land on the next spot of CFB betting favorites for 2023-24.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh has had quite the tenure in his journey at Michigan, but he was finally able to get over the hump and win a conference championship.
In fact, they're back-to-back Big Ten champions entering this season, and may have an even better squad than last year.
The Wolverines' problems have come once they enter the CFP, so we'll see if they can correct that trend this season.
The defense of the USC Trojans may be the only thing stopping them from truly competing with the top dogs. But when you have a generational talent at quarterback like they do in Caleb Williams, anything is possible.
After winning the Heisman Trophy a season ago, Williams is favored at +500 to repeat that feat this year.
If he plays well enough to do that, there's a solid chance that USC is in a position to win it all when it's all said and done.
They'll be eager to put a stamp on the PAC-12 conference as well with this being their final season as members of the conference.
Finally, we'll round out our college football betting favorites with a team that's had their fair share of success recently: the LSU Tigers.
It was less than five years ago that the Tigers were hoisting the CFP trophy as winners, but things have taken a turn for the worse since then.
After two seasons of being right around .500, LSU finished last year with a solid 10-4 record in a brutal SEC.
They have a plethora of starters returning that will be key in making an impact this season, and head coach Brian Kelly loves the bright lights, so he shouldn't have a problem fielding a team with high expectations.
