OpTic Texas came up short at the end of the 2022 season in the Call of Duty League as they finished in fourth place at the World Championship. They look to get things back on track after an overall solid 2022 season.
The team returns a great line-up with Dashy, Scump and Shottzy returning from last season. They also resigned iLLEY. This team is a powerhouse across their line-up. In what is likely the final run of Seth 'Scump' Abner's professional career, OpTic will look to send him out on top.
This team was able to not only be a top seed at Major 1 last season, but they also took home the Championship crown at that event as well. They will have a good chance to start the qualifiers on a high note with matches against the Minnesota Rokkr and Florida Mutineers to start.
OpTic must find a way to outshine Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles Thieves as they are their likely hardest foes this season. At +175 OpTic has value to earn the top seed for Major 1.
The 2022 Champs runner-up will look to find itself in the Grand Final at Worlds 2023 come season's end. They will have to go through plenty of power hitting teams. This league certainly has gotten stronger.
Atlanta had a great run in 2022, but this is a new season and whole new game. The FaZe kept their three key pieces in aBeZy, Cellium and Simp. They added SlasheR in August, and just added a strong reserve player in Classic in October.
Atlanta looks to have built another powerhouse line-up and they might be the team to beat this season. They don't have an easy schedule during Qualifiers for Major 1 with a rematch with defending World Champion Los Angeles Thieves early in the qualifiers.
The FaZe have revenge on their mind and this line-up of players has the firepower to do just that. Atlanta has the second-best odds of winning the top seed for Major 1. Expect this team to be strong once again.
Esports: Weekly preview - Call of Duty League returns
Both the New York Subliners and Seattle Surge stole the show at the end of the 2022 season. New York did so by winning their home Major. The Surge topped that performance by advancing all the way to a third-place finish at Worlds.
Both teams return with line-ups that can make another big impact.
The Surge return the same four-player line-up they had last season. Rising star Pred looks to back up his rookie of the year season with a push to be MVP in 2023.
As for the Subliners they must find a new leader as Crimsix retired in the offseason after leaving the organization. HyDra now finds himself as the longest tenured member of the team. New additions Skyz and Priestahh hope the change of scenery will produce success for two players who didn't have much luck on their previous teams.
Skyz comes over from the Florida Mutineers, while Priestahh joins from Minnesota Rokkr. Elliot 'WarDy' Ward will serve as a Sub player for the organization as well.
Both organizations will be trying to steal the thunder of the usual favorites. They have much larger odds of taking the top seed for Major 1 at +1100 and +2000 respectively, but they both have a chance to make some noise in the qualifier matches.
