The Buffalo Sabres visit the Toronto Maple Leafs for Wednesday Night Hockey action, and our friends at Daily Faceoff have picks and predictions for the nationally-broadcast game.
The Sabres head into Toronto having won five of their last seven games with wins over the Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vegas Golden Knights. they are playing some of their best hockey of the season. But so are the Maple Leafs. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games but are coming off a disappointing 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.
The interesting thing about this matchup is that the Sabres have the Maple Leafs' number. Buffalo is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games against the Leafs and have outscored them 48-33. Buffalo has won the last three games against the Leafs, scoring 19 goals.
Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner continue to carry the Maple Leafs. They all have at least 16 points in their last 10 games. Look for Matthews to score and Marner to get at least one power play point.
I think this will be a high-scoring, tight game with multiple lead changes.
