Over its near 150-year history, Madison Square Garden has hosted some of the biggest names in sport.
It bore witness to the Fight of the Century between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, it hosted the first UFC event, as Conor McGregor beat Eddie Alvarez, and saw the New York Rangers win the Stanley Cup.
This weekend it will play host to the US Darts Masters, as the PDC Tour heads stateside, and the Queen of the Palace, Fallon Sherrock, can’t wait to compete at the legendary venue.
“Madison Square Garden is where iconic sporting history has been made, so it’s a privilege for me to be there playing darts,” said Sherrock. “All the other sports have got there and I never thought I’d be able to play darts there, it’s insane!
“I’m not too sure what to expect from the crowd. Obviously in the UK it’s a bit of a party atmosphere, which of course you feed off, because you love the support. I don’t know how to explain it, but it makes you want to play well and hit a 180 and make the crowd go wild.”

After her exploits at 2020 World Darts Championship – where she indeed made the crowd go wild, beating Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic – made headlines again, beating Dimitri Van den Bergh following an incredible comeback.
Sherrock was 8-2 and 9-3 down, before eventually coming back to win 11-10, and surprised herself with the victory.

“At the Nordic Masters I was pretty happy getting to the semis, and when I was that far behind I thought ‘you know what, just carry on playing, try get as many legs as you can’,” said Sherrock.

“Then I got one leg, then another, and I’m like ‘why has he not closed the game off yet?!’ then it got to 10-10 and I thought ‘just throw’, and I started with a 180, so that changed to ‘just hold it together, don’t lose, breathe!’ and I came out the winner and got to the final.
With the PDC Tour rolling into the Big Apple, Sherrock is keen to explore the city, and try some famous New York cuisine.
“I want to try and sightsee, the Statue of Liberty and all of that, I’m going to try get around the city as much as I can, and still make time for a practice,” said Sherrock. “I’ve always wanted to get a hotdog from one of the stands, you see it in the movies; I managed to get one, and it was just what I expected – I can’t wait to get another before I go home!”
