UFC: All You Need to Know about Lemos vs Andrade

Jessica Andrade returns to strawweight on Sunday morning to face fellow Brazilian Amanda Lemos at the Apex in Las Vegas.

After successive defeats at strawweight, including losing the title to Zhang Weili, Andrade stepped up to flyweight to get her career back on track in 2020.

Andrade is 2-1 and ranked #1 in the flyweight division but she dips her toe back in the 115lbs pool this weekend.

Her rival comes in the shape of #10 strawweight Lemos, who is 5-0 since opting to change division in 2019.

What's the significance of the main event?

This weekend's contest offers Lemos the chance to prove she can mix it with one of the best female fighters in the world.

Lemos lost her UFC debut to Leslie Smith in 2017 but her decision to move to strawweight has been validated when looking at her recent streak.

She has stitched together a five-fight winning streak with three of those victories coming inside the distance.

However, Andrade, who is #6 in the women's pound-for-pound rankings, provides the stiffest test of her UFC career.

Andrade earned an impressive first-round TKO win over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 266 last time out to bounce back from her defeat against Valentina Shevchenko.

Her recent record reads 2-3 but those three losses have come at the hands of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

What are their records?

Amanda Lemos - 13 fights, 11 wins (7 KOs), 1 defeat, 1 draw.

Jessica Andrade - 31 fights, 22 wins (9 KOs), 9 defeats.

Where is the fight taking place?

Sunday's event takes place at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

What time does the card start?

Who is fighting on the undercard?

Clay Guida vs Claudio Puelles
Lando Vannata vs Charles Jourdain
Maycee Barber vs Montana De La Rosa
Manel Kape vs Su Mudaerji

What are the odds?

Andrade can be backed at 8/15 to come out on top in Las Vegas, while Lemos is 13/8 to get her arm raised.

Stoppage on the cards

Andrade earned a stunning TKO win in her last fight against Calvillo and the high-output fighter looks well placed to stop Lemos.

It would be unfair to completely overlook Lemos's ability after sealing five successive wins but there are levels to this spot and she's still a few steps behind Andrade.

There aren't often finishes in the strawweight division but with two highly-aggressive strikers set to throw down it looks like this contest could buck that trend.

Andrade's last four victories have been courtesy of a KO or TKO and the majority of her career wins (9) have come via that route.

Andrade to get it done early

Under 3.5 rounds also looks an extremely attractive selection.

Each of Andrade's last four wins have come inside the opening two rounds, including a second-round stoppage of current strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in 2019.

It's also worth noting that Lemos doesn't tend to hear the final buzzer and four of her last six trips to the octagon haven't gone beyond round two.
